About us
We are a friendly group of likeminded enthusiasts, who aim to enjoy Model Engineering and further explore construction and operational developments across a wide field of interests, which include locomotives, traction engines, boats, clocks and many other sections within the hobby.
Our Society was formed in 1946 and maintains a healthy membership. You don’t have to have a background in engineering to become a member and our current membership spans a wide cross section of society. Do come along and sample what the club has to offer. New members are always welcome.
The Society is a limited company, under the Companies Act and is managed by a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer along with eight committee members. The Society is affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers and is proud to have been one of its founder members with a registration number of N004.
To ensure the safety of members and the public, we comply with all current regulations, with respect to boiler testing and the Health and Safety requirements for running a miniature railway in a public place. Visitors to the track, with engines, are required to show proof of appropriate boiler certification and insurance prior to running.
The Society operates a miniature railway on a raised track in South Park in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. In addition to public running trains, on Sundays between 11:00 to 15:00 hours, the facilities are used on other days, see Our Activities. The Society holds meeting twice a month in a St Catherine’s Church Hall in Heald Green.
